Toon van Tuijl Design Award in The Netherlands

In the Netherlands, Toon van Tuijl Design Award is a yearly event. This is an award stimulating designs that contribute to the economic and social development in developing countries. More at (unfortunately in Dutch):

2008 nominations (Category B) are:

1. Chulha low smoke biomass stove by Simona Rocchi e.a.(Philips Design)
2. MoonLight – Solar Lamp produced in Cambodia, by Doortje van de Wouw, Ana Maria Alvarez, Loucas Papatoniou, and Stephanie Wirth.(Delft University of Technology)

Both were topics at Helsinki BoP Conference. You could see Moonlight as well.

The winner is………….?

The winner will be made known during the Dutch Design Awards in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, on 18 October 2008.

Yes, indeed. Some 18 photographs of the prize winning design, Moonlight, and of the team of 4 students from Delft University, who designed and built the prototype, have been added.
